My son Brady who recently turned six, has been begging for a bike. As a parent, I want my son to not only enjoy riding a bike, but I also want him to learn how to properly ride it and to balance on it. Enter Glide Bikes. Glide Bikes was started over eight years ago with one goal in mind: to help people learn how to ride bikes. Glide Bikes are the perfect tools to help kids build their confidence by learning how to balance without the use of training wheels. "We really wanted to give Glidebike kids an empowering experience at every stage of their childhood," said CEO Ed Mondello. "Whether they're a toddler grabbing the handle bars for the first time or a young novice that loves cruising the neighborhood, our riders told us what they wanted in a bike, and we listened."

Most of us have learned how to ride a bicycle by using training wheels; however, training wheels leave out one very important element when it comes to mastering the skills of bike riding, balance! It is the inability to balance while riding a bike that makes it so challenging to transition from training wheels to a traditional two wheel bike.

This challenge is what a balance bike prepares you for! By being built low to the ground, designed with low speed geometry, and the omission of chains, pedals and gears, Glide Bikes are able to set up anyone with the best possible scenario for learning balance, allowing them to be more confident and achieve more in less time.

I personally love that that the design of every Glide Bikes model makes it the perfect learning tool for children of all abilities, including those with special needs. The bicycle’s capacity to balance at slow speeds allows children to become familiar with the feeling of balancing early on. The bike continues to give them more and more confidence as they begin to spend less time with both feet on the ground, and more time balancing.

Discover the perfectly sized bike for your child with the Glide sizing chart:

The EZee Glider is for kids 18 months to 4 years old. Its low stand-over and super light weight make it easy for first timers to master.

The Mini Glider is for toddlers, ages 2 to 5. It has air tires and spoked wheels, giving a smooth ride. It also offers the ability to add pedals.

The Go Glider is is for kids, ages 5 -9, and can be modified into a bike with pedals or a scooter with a foot board.

My son Brady, was given The Go Glider and he loves it! I love that the Glide Bikes are so lightweight. This really does allow the child to easily handle and manipulate the bike without being fearful. One of my favorite features of the Go Glider is that while the child is seated, they can place both feet on the ground at any given time. Their feet operate as both the gas and the brakes. This is such a cool feature! In addition, The Go Glider can be modified into a regular bike by adding pedals. This means that your child can learn to glide, and pedal all on the same bike! Or, you can modify it into a scooter with a foot board. How awesome are those options? I know that Brady is going to have so much fun on his Go Glider bike!
