My $40 Weekly Grocery Challenge: Week 3-Part 2!

If you just read the previous article regarding my price matching trip to Wal-Mart, you will know that I spent $7 of my weekly grocey money on All Detergent. I went ahead and used all the coupons that I had for the deal because I knew that 6 bottles of detergent will last for quite awhile. Also, I am way under budget this week, and that is something that we can use. I still had $28 left in grocery cash left for the week, so after the big detergent purchase, that left me with $21.

After I left Wal-Mart, I decided to run into Albertson's for some FREE toliet paper and a few other things. I got 2 packs of Mission Tortillas BOGO @ $2.99 minus 2 .75/1 coupons from the 1/10 SS insert = $1.49 for 2 packs of tortillas (we love these for quesadillas!), 7 packages of FREE Marcal toilet paper (it is on sale for .88 this week and there were FREE coupons in the 1/3/10 SS insert), 2  FREE packages of Marcal paper towels (same FREE coupon is good for paper towels as well), 1 box of FREE Marcal tissues (same FREE coupon as the previous 2 Marcal items), 2 boxes of Ronzoni Smart Taste pasta on sale for .88 each minus 2 .75/1 coupons from the 1/10 SS insert = .26 for 2 boxes of pasta, and 1 package of Aqua pods water at .88. My total for all this was $4.80!

I am happy to say that after all those packages of toilet paper, napkins, 7 bottles of All laundry detergent, and the other things that I bought, I still have around $15 in cash grocery money left for the week! :)

My Super Sweet Wal-Mart Trip: 6 All Detergents for $7!!

Let me first begin by saying that I have never price matched before at Wal-Mart! Can you believe it? Honestly, I just don't go to Wal-Mart unless I absolutely have to. I find that I can get better deals at the Super Target, which is just down the street from my house.

With that being said, I saw in the most recent Big Lots ad, that they had All Small and Mighty listed at 2 for $5 or $3 each. There were coupons in the 1/3/10 RP for $2 off any All Detergent 32 oz. or larger, so that would make it $1 each for All! I thought it seemed like a sweet deal! Since I had to take Drew to the doctor this morning and we passed by a Wal-Mart, I thought that I would give price-matching a shot! I stopped by the Customer Service desk and asked the girls there if I could price-match the Big-Lots ad (I had it in my hand to show them). At first they said, they could not price match if something is 2 for $5, but I showed them in the fine print that it said or $3 each! The cashiers said, "Okay! Go get your detergent!"

So, I ended up with 6 bottles of All Small and Mighty that is 192 loads of laundry for just $7!!!!! Woo hoo!!

I am telling you all this to say that you need to take advantage of Price Matching whenever you can! It can save you alot of money! Did you know that Target is now price-matching as well? Wal-Mart was right by the doctor's office, so that is why I chose Wal-Mart today. :)

If you have a Big Lots nearby, why not grab a sales flier and head to Wal-Mart or Target and price match the detergent? The Big Lots sale price on the detergent is good until Saturday, January 23!

My $40 Grocery Challenge: Week 3!!

If you remember from last week's grocery challenge, I still had $13 left from the week to combine with this week's $40. So, for this week's total cash grocey budget I had $53. I did not do as well as previous weeks, but did manage to snag a few goodies! :)

First of all, there are several things not pictured that I did pick up at Walgreens. I actually made 2 trips there this week. On my first trip which is not pictured I got :

--4 boxes of Macaroni and Cheese on sale for .59 each with in-ad Wags coupon

-stacked with B3G1 coupon from the 12/13 SS insert = $1.77

--4 bags of Quaker Cheddar Rice Cakes (Drew and I love these-so yummo!)

-on sale for .99 each

-used 4 .75/1 coupons from 1/10 RP

=. 96 for bags!

--1 Arizona Diet Green Tea w/Ginseng (love this Green Tea!)

-in ad coupon for .59

=.59

--4 Tampa Trib newspapers = $4 (I don't usually include them in my budget, but because I had so much extra this week, I went ahead and picked them up with my cash)

Total for first trip not pictured = $7.32 spent from my cash grocery budget.

My second trip to Walgreens yesterday along with a Publix trip are what you see pictured. Here is what I got:

Walgreens

4 more boxes of Mac and Cheese (same scenario as above) $1.77

1 more Arizona Green Tea (same as above) .59

2 more bags of Quakes @ .99 each minus 2 .75/1 coupons = .48

2 bags of whole grain Tostitos = $5.00

1 jar of Tostitos Creamy Spinach dip @ $2.50 minus FREE coupon when you buy 2 bags of chips = FREE

minus 1 $3 Register Reward that was expiring

= 4.84 spent from my cash grocery budget.

Publix

--2 bottles of One A Day Scooby Doo Vitamins @ $5.69 each minus 2 $2/1 coupons from the 1/3 RP stacked with 1 $5/2 Publix coupon from the Green Advantage flier = $2.38 for 2 bottles of vitamins! (I really needed these and since I had so much budget left for the week, I grabbed them!)

--2 bags of Kraft 2% shredded cheese @ 2 for $4 minus 1 $1/2 IP coupon (sorry, link no longer available) stacked with 1 $1/2 Publix coupon from the 1/3 SS insert = $2 for 2 bags of cheese!

--2 bottles of Sundown vitamins @ $2.99 and $3.59 each minus 2 $1/1 manuf. coupons from the 1/3 SS insert stacked with 1 $6/2 Publix coupon from the Green Advantage flier = FREE plus overage!!

--1 bottle of Grated Parm cheese-no coupons but needed it for my homemade meatballs for Drew's birthday dinner! = $2.19

--2 1/2 gallons of Chocolate Lactaid Milk @ $3 each = $6 I already have one unopened carton of this in the refrigerator, but because this milk is usually almost $4 for a half gallon and the expiration date is not until March, I grabbed some more! :)

Total spent at Publix out of my cash grocery budget = $13

Total cash left for the week: $28

So, after all 3 trips to Walgreens and Publix, I spent roughly $25 and I still have almost $27 left for the week of my grocery cash! While this week was not as great as previous weeks, I was able to stock up on vitamins and milk and a few other things that are typically pricey.

I do need laundry detergent and dishwashing soap, but after I purchase those 2 things, I should be able to save at least half of my grocery budget that I have left to combine with next week's $40!
